Your Monroe address

Every workspace gets its own email address on monroe.email, something like acme-deals-x7k2p@monroe.email. You pick the label; the short suffix keeps the address private to your firm. There is nothing to install and nothing for IT to approve, which makes email the fastest of the three channels to start on.

If you picked email during setup, the address is minted the moment your workspace comes online (usually a minute or two after checkout), and Monroe emails you as soon as it is live. You are already an approved sender: reply to that email, or write to the address directly, and Monroe gets to work. The address is also on your dashboard. If you started on Slack or Teams, you can turn the email channel on anytime from your dashboard.

Approved senders

Monroe only takes work from senders you have approved, so a guessed or spoofed address can never spend your credits:

  • Approved automatically: you, plus teammates from your connected Slack or Microsoft Teams workspace.
  • Held for review: anyone else who writes to your address. Nothing is processed until a workspace admin approves the sender from the dashboard; once approved, their held mail is picked up automatically.
  • Blocked: senders you reject stay blocked.

Manage the list (approve, add, or remove senders) from your dashboard.

Three ways to start

  • Write to it. Brief Monroe the way you would brief an analyst: "Underwrite the attached OM against our buy box and send back the model and a one-page read."
  • CC it. Copy your Monroe address on a live deal thread. Monroe reads the thread and attachments, then works from the request.
  • Forward it. An OM lands in your inbox; forward it to Monroe with one line about what you want done.

Attachments come through: OMs, rent rolls, T-12s, PDFs, spreadsheets, and images are all read as part of the ask.

What replies look like

Monroe replies once, with the finished work, like a colleague would. No "got it" filler and no progress updates in between; the next email you get from Monroe is the deliverable, with the work product attached or linked in the reply. Replies thread on the same subject, so the whole exchange stays in one conversation in your inbox. Reply in that thread to revise, verify numbers, or hand over the next instruction; a new subject starts a fresh conversation with fresh context.

Slack and Teams stream live progress with a stop control; email deliberately does not. If you want to watch a run happen, use a chat channel. If you want to send an ask and get back finished work, email is built for exactly that.

One address, not a mailbox connector

Your Monroe address is where you talk to Monroe. It is separate from the Gmail, Outlook, and Microsoft 365 connectors in Tools & data, which give Monroe scoped access to your mailbox and files as a data source. Use both if you like: send Monroe a task, and let a mailbox connector supply the documents.

Troubleshooting

  • You wrote to Monroe and nothing came back. The usual cause is an unapproved sender: mail from an unknown address is held, not processed. A workspace admin can approve the sender from the dashboard, and the held mail is picked up automatically.
  • The address doesn't work yet. Right after checkout, your workspace may still be coming online (usually a minute or two). Monroe emails you the moment the address is live, and it appears on your dashboard at the same time.
  • Wrong address. Check the exact address in your dashboard; the suffix matters. Adding it to your contacts also keeps Monroe's replies out of spam.
  • A huge attachment was skipped. Very large files can exceed the per-attachment limit. Monroe says so in its reply; put the file in a connected drive folder instead and point Monroe at it.
